The Graduate Academic Advisor position at Stevens Institute of Technology is a full-time role under the supervision of the Department Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and the associate department chair for graduate studies. This position is crucial in providing academic advising for graduate students majoring in electrical engineering, computer engineering, and applied artificial intelligence. The advisor will assist with various academic administrative matters, ensuring that students receive the guidance they need to navigate their academic programs successfully. In this role, the advisor will be responsible for advising both prospective and current graduate students about academic program requirements. This includes providing guidance on selecting and completing a program or concentration that aligns with their career goals. The advisor will also participate in recruitment events, information sessions, and orientations aimed at prospective and new students, helping to foster a welcoming environment for incoming cohorts. A significant part of the advisor's responsibilities will involve managing student data within Workday Student. This includes entering, evaluating, and auditing student information to ensure timely progress through academic programs and certifying the completion of course and non-course requirements for graduation. The advisor will serve as the primary point of contact for various stakeholders, including the Department Chair, Associate Department Chairs, faculty advisors, and current graduate students, regarding school policies and procedures from admission to graduation. Additionally, the advisor will coordinate communications to students about departmental and college regulations related to program requirements and the graduation process. They will also advise students on various opportunities to enhance their professional skills and career readiness, ensuring that all ECE graduate students are well-informed and supported throughout their academic journey. The advisor will work closely with the ECE Department leadership team to enhance the overall student learning experience and career success.
