About The Position

Bituminous Roadways (BR) is a growing, award-winning, and established union highway/heavy contractor looking for a Grading Foreman to join our team. This position plays a vital role within our organization by prospecting, preparing accurate cost estimates, and managing profitable work consistent with the company's risk tolerance and objectives and much more. They juggle multiple duties, manage a variety of jobs and collaborate with other estimators, staff, field supervisors and employees to ensure proper coordination and performance. This position must be proactive in the company's marketing and customer retention as well. Our main office is located in Mendota Heights, MN. BR also has plant locations in Inver Grove Heights, Shakopee, and Columbus.

Requirements

• Computer skills
• 5 years grading experience
• Operator experience
• Management experience
• Safety experience/knowledge
• Strong math skills
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Professional conduct
• Industry knowledge/hands-on experience preferred
• Logistics and scheduling
• Safety awareness (MMUTCD, OSHA understanding)

Responsibilities

• Attend weekly scheduling meetings/schedule jobs.
• Schedule subcontractors, materials, trucks and equipment.
• Set elevations for grading and paving.
• Measure and report quantities on daily field log.
• Ensure Gopher One calls are done in advance of work.
• Ensure safety of crew and the public (tool box talks).
• Attend pre-con meetings and take notes.
• Inform employees of days' work and expectations.
• Manage daily cleanup of job.
• Mentor and train employees.
