About the position
Join us in shaping the future of young artists! We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Visual Arts Teacher with expertise in photography (including darkroom techniques), ceramics (wheel throwing), sculpting, and other essential visual arts disciplines. The ideal candidate will not only exhibit exceptional technical skills but also have the ability to ignite curiosity and creativity in students, guiding them to reach their artistic potential.
Responsibilities
- Deliver inspiring visual arts courses, including photography, ceramics, and sculpting, that captivate students.
- Teach traditional darkroom techniques and photographic processes, fostering hands-on learning.
- Mentor students in wheel throwing, hand-building, and ceramic sculpting techniques, cultivating their artistic abilities.
- Create and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state and program standards, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.
- Develop a classroom environment that promotes creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, empowering students to express themselves.
- Manage and maintain art facilities, including the darkroom and ceramics studio, providing students with the best resources.
- Evaluate student progress through constructive assessments, critiques, and exhibitions, showcasing their achievements.
- Collaborate with fellow faculty and staff to enhance the overall mission of the FAME Magnet Program, contributing to a vibrant arts community.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field
- Hold or be eligible for a GaPSC Renewable Certificate, Provisional Certificate, or Permit License in Art.
