About The Position

The Grader applies their knowledge of FGIS grain grading standards to provide accurate grading of products in a fast-paced environment. This role involves collecting samples as required by facility sampling plans and participating in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Laboratory Processes. The Grader is responsible for organizing samples according to retention guidelines and tracking samples scheduled for internal and external testing when necessary. They perform routine laboratory tests of production and environmental samples to ensure the quality of the final product and environmental discharge levels. Additionally, the Grader assists the QA Manager with the inventory and ordering of laboratory supplies to ensure efficient laboratory operations and carries out other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager. The position also encompasses Safety/Auditing/Program Management Functions, including involvement with the development, implementation, and revisions of the plant quality program. The Grader contributes to the development and implementation of facility quality audits, participates in the investigation of any product quality issues, and takes part in the facility Food/Feed Safety programs and assessments.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work frequently in inclement weather
  • Must be aware and attentive to surroundings which may include automatic starting conveyors belts and other moving machinery
  • Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, squat, and crawl occasionally and stand and walk frequently
  • Must have knowledge of the aflatoxin and vomitoxin testing procedures
  • Be able to work a combination of 8, 10, & 12 hour shifts consisting of days, nights & weekends
  • Must be able to work extended hours
  • Must be computer knowledgeable

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and have the ability to travel independently

Responsibilities

  • Accepts/carries out/completes other duties as assigned by the Quality Manger
  • Involved with the development, implementation and revisions of the plant quality program
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of facility quality audits
  • Participates in the investigation of any product quality issues
  • Participates in the facility Food/Feed Safety programs and assessments
