About The Position

About St. John’s Prep St. John’s Prep is an inclusive, Catholic, Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School for young men in grades 6 through 12. Position Overview and Responsibilities Grade 6 math/science faculty teach two sections of mathematics and two sections of science each day, focusing on pre-algebra topics and inquiry-based science (physical, life, and earth science). Faculty also serve as advisors to a group of students on their grade-level team. The Middle School program of study can be found here on our website . Requirements

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of teaching late elementary or middle school mathematics or science (or applicable practicum experience).
  • A bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in science, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diversity of learning styles and learners.
  • Standing/sitting for long periods of time.
  • Must be capable of adapting to frequent changes in position throughout the workday.
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
  • Use of hands and fingers for manipulation, and using computer keyboard, educational tools, and perform first aid and CPR.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision.
  • All members of the faculty are expected to give witness to our mission at St. John’s.

Responsibilities
