About The Position

The Plant Worker II is responsible for all duties performed at the lower Plant Worker 4 level in addition to demonstrating a high level of initiative, operating sizer equipment and performing data entry related tasks. Responsible for grading and sorting fruit, meeting packing specifications, fruit treatment, packing, stacking, shipping, and may be requested to do other work as directed. Maintain a safe work environment, adhere to established policies and procedures, and work all available hours offered while fulfilling any assigned responsibilities. Requirements

• A good working knowledge of routine duties and responsibilities.
• Demonstrates initiative.
• Must be able to complete common paperwork related to shipping, receiving and material handling.
• Able to work a flexible schedule.
• Must be forklift or hand truck certified.
• Good knowledge and understanding of common safe work practices.
• Basic computer skills (Word and Excel) preferred.

• Ability to accurately perform data entry duties.
• Regularly lift light to heavy weight objects.
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be able to have full repetitive use of both hands and fingers, i.e. simple grasping.
• Must be able to observe fruit on conveyors which are in continuous motion.
• Must work all available hours that are offered and wherever assigned.

Responsibilities

• Determine grade and ripeness of fruit by observing external appearance.
• Use the sizer and demonstrates a good knowledge of fruit quality.
• Remove fruit of predetermined grade and/or ripeness from the packing line and place them in another location as directed.
• Enter related data.
• Perform water quality testing.
• Help load and prepare chambers for treatment.
• Unload chambers after treatment.
• Determine by external appearance, size, grade, and ripeness of fruit on packing table.
• Remove fruit of predetermined size, grade, and ripeness from the table and place them in a container for culling or regrading.
• Pack fruit based on orders.
• Assemble container as required. Place packed container on case conveyor.
• Examine packed containers for proper packing method, material, and carton size.
• Check weight of packed container as required.
• Record information from the container as required.
• Verify packing specifications and apply labels. Close carton boxes with tape machine.
• Verify proper sealing of carton boxes. And, verify the size and color on the container.
• Segregate containers and stack them for shipping or holding.
• Deliver packing material to packing station as directed.
• Operate the sizer to ensure that the correct fruit is dropped on the proper pack table.
• Identify packing or conveyer issues that need to be reported to maintenance.
• Keep track of weekly orders. What has been packed and what needs to be packed. Packs special orders.
• Consolidate pack data. Inputs data into Produce Pro and logs data on to the pallet log sheets.
• Keep track of packing supply inventory usage.
• Assist with cleaning and machine shut off machines at the end of production run.
• Ensure work area is clean and ready for the day's tasks.
• Follow all safety and food safety procedures.
• Perform other duties assigned by Management.
• Receive supplies, prepare pallets for shipment and load containers.
• Complete data entry and other required documentation for shipping.
