About The Position
The Hebrew Academy of The Five Towns and Rockaway is seeking an experienced grade 4-8 STEM Teacher to join our team. The primary role of the STEM teacher will be to facilitate developmentally appropriate STEM learning activities, experiences, and assessments that foster both academic and social growth among students. This position is crucial in shaping the educational experiences of students in grades 4 through 8, ensuring that they are engaged and inspired to explore the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The STEM teacher will be responsible for teaching 16 class periods a week across a variety of cohesive STEM courses, including Coding, Engineering, and Design Thinking. The role also includes coaching our middle school Robotics team, with potential opportunities to expand this program to high school or lower school levels. Collaboration with faculty is essential, as the teacher will work to implement projects that infuse STEM concepts into core subjects, creating a more integrated learning experience for students. Maintaining a safe and organized learning space is a key responsibility, ensuring that the environment is welcoming to multiple groups of students throughout the school day. The teacher will also be tasked with maintaining equipment and lab inventory housed within the STEM Lab, ensuring that all resources are available and in good working order. Additionally, the STEM teacher will collaborate with the STEM team to help integrate new modalities and interactive learning experiences into the curriculum, enhancing the overall educational experience for students.
