Samsung, a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, is founded on a simple philosophy - the endless pursuit of excellence will create a better world for all. At Samsung Austin Research and Development Center (SARC) and Advanced Computing Lab (ACL), we are building a center of excellence for Intellectual Property (IP) that is applied to high-performance computing devices (mobile, automotive, and other custom market segments) consumed by millions of people around the world. Come build with us! As a GPU Modeling Engineer you will work as part of the GPU Hardware Modeling team, where you will be responsible for functional and performance modeling of various blocks of the GPU pipeline. This is a mid- to senior-level role with responsibilities to include the following: Being part of a unique growing team at a well-established global company means you have limitless room to explore, innovate, and grow by wearing different hats. Our Xclipse GPU is the first mobile GPU with ray tracing technology that enables console-level graphic for Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Our GPU Architect team delivers whole system architecture-level design for Samsung's current and next-generation mobile GPU. Depending on the functional discipline, they're responsible for anywhere from early-stage architectural exploration, research work focusing on graphic and machine learning, defining new features, modeling, to diving into microarchitecture design and programming work.

  • You interface with architects, RTL designers, verification engineers and software engineers to understand the GPU pipeline
  • You design and architect C++ models of a GPU blocks
  • You develop and maintain functional and performance models of complex systems and validate to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • You ensure that models are up-to-date and consistent with the latest design specifications
  • You identify areas for optimization and improvement in functional and performance models
  • You implement and test the GPU models.
  • You simulate the model's behavior to validate functional and performance characteristics
  • You identify architecture, micro-architecture, and implementation optimizations to improve the functionality and performance of the GPU and its units
  • 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or 8+ years of experience with a Master's Degree, or 6+ years of experience with a PhD
  • 8+ years of experience in hardware design and architecture
  • Expertise in C++ programming, including STL, in a Linux environment
  • Deep understanding of GPU/CPU or computer architecture and micro-architecture concepts
  • Experience using development tools such as revision control systems, debuggers, and make/cmake
