The GPS Utility Mapping Specialist at North Alamo Water Supply Corporation is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in accurately mapping the locations of water meters, water lines, boosters, lift stations, and other related infrastructure into the geographic information system (GIS). This position requires the use of a handheld GPS unit to ensure precise data collection and mapping. In addition to mapping duties, the specialist is responsible for light maintenance of any company-assigned vehicle, which includes keeping the vehicle clean both inside and out. The position may also include other duties as assigned by the Meter Reader Manager. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-starter with a high school diploma or GED, who can read, write, and follow written instructions. Strong communication skills are essential for comprehending instructions and effectively interacting with customers and employees. The ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in daily tasks is also important. The work schedule typically runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the workweek, with occasional weekend work as necessary. The position may require working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to extreme weather conditions, necessitating physical stamina and the ability to lift and move items as needed.
