About The Position

GPS Survey Technician JOB LOCATION: Wilmington, NC POSITIONS AVAILABLE: 1 Report To: Senior GPS Engineer Primary Function: Provide daily setup and support of survey equipment for jobsites. Job Duties: Assist the Senior Engineer as directed. Understand procedures and operation of all surveying equipment, i.e. Static GPS, RTK, GPS, conventional total station, data collectors, levels. Ensure that all equipment is in proper working order. Provide daily maintenance and security of equipment. Report all damaged and defective equipment to appropriate Supervisor. Mentor/train operators on proper survey procedures and operation of equipment. Assist Senior Engineer as needed with daily operations including review of project related drawings Proper storage of equipment. Monitor job area safety. Preparation of field notes; understand how to write and read field notes and maps. Assume responsibilities of Senior Engineer in his absence. Perform necessary work while complying with all company policies and procedures. Perform additional duties as required or directed by their immediate supervisor or other manager. Must have regular and predictable attendance. Perform additional duties as required or directed by their immediate supervisor or other manager. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Two years surveying background. Willing to commute as needed. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have a valid NC Driver License. AVERAGE PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Average physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving average weight material with occasional lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 25 and up to 60 pounds). If a position specific Physical Demands sheet is attached, it will describe in more detail the physical demands that are required. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Position requires the ability to occasionally work around any or all of the following: noise, dust, heat, cold, oil and heavy equipment. Personal protective equipment is normally required of the position. Position requires ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly and the ability to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions.
