About The Position

The incumbent is authorized to collect information and to prepare reports as required regarding the administrative reporting activities of the Office of Inspector General (OIG). The incumbent serves as an OIG Investigator and is responsible for conducting administrative investigations of personnel or contractors as assigned by the OIG. Responsible for conducting investigations in accordance with prescribed Department policies; with the OIG using the Principles and Standards for the Offices of Inspector General (Green Book) as a guide; and the OIG Investigation Manual. This position may be required to research and/or prepare reports pertinent to collective bargaining. PAY: Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, ranging from $50,584.67 to $62,600.28, annually.

  • Knowledge of investigative techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments and caseloads.
  • Ability to interview subjects, complainants and witnesses.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, evidence and other relevant information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Overtime will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for conducting administrative investigations of DOEA personnel, including collective bargaining unit employees, and/or contractors as assigned by the OIG.
  • Review complaints, both internal agency and external.
  • Recommend complaint resolution action to the Inspector General.
  • Interview witnesses and take sworn statements.
  • Collect, document, preserve and process all physical evidence.
  • Maintain close contact with legal staff when misconduct is being investigated, as needed.
  • Complete and submit all investigative reports as prescribed by the OIG standards and investigation manual.
  • Prepare reports as needed relating to collective bargaining unit agreements and the impact the results of the investigations will have on the members that are covered.
  • Responsible for submitting all reports, forms, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner, through the proper chain of command.
  • Perform duties of the Accreditation Manager relevant to maintaining the office’s Florida Commission on Law Enforcement Accreditation.
  • All reports, forms and correspondence shall be accurately completed, so as to present factual information in accordance with the OIG standards and investigation manual.
  • Submit all routine reports and forms as instructed by the supervisor in accordance to proper procedures.
  • Responsible for appearing in court or at other related hearings regarding cases resulting from their official duties.
  • Appear to give testimony in any civil proceedings when properly notified by the court.
  • Appear to give testimony at depositions when properly notified.
  • Appear to give testimony at probable cause hearings and/or suppression hearing when properly notified.
  • Prepare all documents required by the court.
  • Comply with all orders and reasonable requests of the court.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor, attitude, appearance and language when testifying in court or at related matters.
  • Responsible for performing other related duties as required.
