About The Position

The Governor's Summer Intern position at the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) offers an opportunity for undergraduate or graduate students to gain practical experience in housing policy and community development. The intern will engage in research and analysis related to Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV) and Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) programs, contributing to the development of training materials and policy recommendations.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education.
  • Academic work in a related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data sets related to discipline.
  • Ability to build relationships, establish credibility, and influence leaders at all levels.
  • Ability to conduct well-informed research.
  • Ability to solve complex, critical problems.
  • Ability to review and make recommendations on proposed changes to relevant policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform research and provide a report regarding the potential implementation of a Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV) Homeownership Program.
  • Research HCV Admin Plans from other Public Housing Agencies (PHA) that have implemented an HCV Homeownership Program.
  • Create a file of all relevant U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidance and recommended best practices.
  • Identify the pros and cons of implementation and possible language to use in IHCDA's HCV Admin Plan.
  • Perform research and provide a report regarding the potential implementation of a Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) Program.
  • Research HCV Admin Plans from other PHAs that have implemented an FSS Program.
  • Create a file of all relevant HUD guidance and recommended best practices.
  • Assist with Local Service Agency (LSA) Scorecard improvement and incentives.
  • Assist with developing additional training materials and SOPs.
  • Assist with developing a spreadsheet for constituent tracking complaints and informal hearings.

  • Hourly rate of $16.24 for those without a bachelor's degree and $17.24 for those with a bachelor's degree or higher.
