About The Position

The summer internship program allows participants to work with state agency officials and participate in co-curricular components to enrich their experiences. Interns spend at least 50 percent of their time on predetermined projects that enhance college-level skills and abilities. The co-curricular components of the program ensure competitive, reputable, and inclusive experiential learning. Interns participate in cohort weekly activities designed to enable: Professional growth and preparedness for the workforce upon graduation Exposure to many facets of state government Networking and camaraderie development among the cohort The Communications Intern will support a key project to help DOR develop a customer education center for a specific customer base, offering a variety of educational materials. This project will interact with internal and external communication teams, external partners, website and creative teams, and DOR leadership. The intern will also be exposed to a variety of projects including, research and gathering information for public partners, creation of guides and FAQ, UX and UI integration, and more for the purposes of serving Indiana taxpayers. The Indiana Department of Revenue has served Indiana, its population, and the business community since 1947. Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education.
  • Academic work in related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data sets related to discipline
  • Ability to build relationships, establish credibility, and influence leaders at all levels
  • Ability to conduct well-informed research
  • Ability to solve complex, critical problems
  • Ability to review and make recommendations on proposed changes to relevant policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting research on best practices for communication of tax information for identified customer segments.
  • Drafting content and reviewing edits of educational materials, information sheets and FAQs.
  • Assisting in the designing and creation of web materials to help explain some of the information to groups.
  • Meeting with organizations the agency works with to help share the information.
  • Work with internal business units in a cross-functional project.
