About The Position

The Government Relations Specialist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City plays a crucial role in managing relationships with external stakeholders, particularly elected officials across the Tenth District. This position involves collaborating with the Public Affairs team to implement government relations strategies, monitor emerging issues, and provide counsel to internal leaders. The specialist will also develop communications and engage in outreach activities to enhance the Bank's public service mission.

Requirements

  • Typically requires at least 3 years of relevant experience; at least 6 years preferred.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic relationship and communication plans.
  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, political science, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of the Federal Reserve and its policymaking role.
  • Understanding of the oversight and legislative processes of the U.S. Congress.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management tools, such as Salesforce or Mailchimp.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively within the Public Affairs team to create and execute engagement strategies with key external stakeholders.
  • Manage external stakeholder strategy, outreach, and engagement, building relationships with key elected offices and staff.
  • Monitor the external environment and advise internal leaders on issues impacting the Bank's mission.
  • Represent the Bank externally and support executives in stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Design and manage projects, events, and communications to inform partners and advance the Bank's mission.
  • Evaluate requests from organizations for Bank employees to provide information to officeholders.
  • Track and report on principal- and staff-level engagements.
  • Engage with key stakeholders across the Bank, including senior executives and other internal teams.
  • Participate in Federal Reserve System work groups and cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Support the Public Information Officer in implementing the Bank's Transparency and Accountability Policy.
