About The Position

Primary Purpose The Director, Government Relations Operations supports the enterprise government relations strategy by providing operational leadership, policy execution, and program management across federal, state, and international advocacy efforts. The role partners closely with the Managing Director, Government Relations to advance Allison Transmission’s legislative, regulatory, and political objectives by coordinating issue tracking, stakeholder engagement, PAC administration, and internal alignment across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD preferred
  • Experience working on congressional staff or lobbying
  • 7+ years of industry experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local lobbying regulations
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Experience Experience supporting or executing a legislative or public policy agenda.
  • Working knowledge of transportation, industrial, manufacturing, defense, energy, or trade policy issues.
  • Understanding of legislative and regulatory processes and their business impacts.
  • Ability to synthesize complex policy information into clear, executive-level materials.
  • Experience coordinating advocacy efforts, tracking issues, and supporting stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong organizational, execution, and compliance skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support execution of the enterprise government relations strategy under the direction of the Managing Director.
  • Monitor international, federal, and state legislative and regulatory activity impacting key business sectors.
  • Analyze policy developments and prepare leadership briefings and impact assessments.
  • Coordinate outreach with policymakers and relevant staff.
  • Manage government relations operations including issue tracking and meeting prep and government relations budget
  • Liaise with internal business units to ensure advocacy alignment.
  • Support engagement with trade associations and coalitions.
  • Administer Political Action Committee compliance and reporting.
  • Provide operational support for GR initiatives and leadership engagements.
