About The Position

The Government Operations Consultant II position at the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is a highly responsible role focused on providing guidance and support to residents within the North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center. The consultant will collaborate with various sections of the facility, utilizing independent judgment and attention to detail to assist residents in navigating policies, procedures, and their rights. This role also involves conducting investigations related to complaints, serving as a liaison with outside agencies, and contributing to the continuous quality improvement efforts of the institution.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from a college or university and four years of professional experience in systems analysis, management analysis, program planning, program research, program evaluation, engineering or administrative work.
  • A master's degree from a college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Professional or nonprofessional experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and counsel residents in resolving issues regarding policies, procedures, and practices beyond the ordinary scope of the assigned counselor.
  • Provide instruction, guidance, and counseling to residents regarding their rights and responsibilities.
  • Assist residents in filing complaints and grievances, writs of habeas corpus, and in reporting alleged abuse.
  • Conduct investigations and counseling associated with complaints or reports of alleged abuse.
  • Serve as liaison with outside agencies on matters associated with complaints or reports of alleged abuse.
  • Chair the Resident Life Services Committee and support resident government activities in residential buildings.
  • Provide routine data and reports in support of the institution's continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Serve as Civil Rights Liaison Officer assisting the Office of Civil Rights in interviewing both employees and residents in response to alleged Civil Rights violations.
  • Collect data on the effectiveness and appropriateness of auxiliary aids or services provided to deaf or hard of hearing persons.
  • Complete Self-Assessment Tool to evaluate DCF's operational performance in providing appropriate auxiliary aids and services.
  • Assist designated DCF Personnel with concerns raised by deaf or hard of hearing Customers or Companions regarding effective communication.
  • Communicate with ADA/Section 504 Coordinators concerning services to deaf or hard-of-hearing Customers or Companions.
  • Serve as MANDT Adjunct Training Instructor, conducting monthly validation monitoring and quarterly refresher trainings.
