About The Position

Smiths Detection is seeking a Contract Manager to support the evaluation of new business opportunities in coordination with Sales, Program Management, and other stakeholders. The role involves providing contractual guidance, leading contract negotiations, and ensuring compliance with contract management processes. The Contract Manager will serve as a point-of-contact between SDI and customers, subcontractors, and vendors on contract-related matters, and will be responsible for the administration of U.S. Federal government contracts. The position requires maintaining complete contract records, monitoring the contract life cycle, and collaborating with internal stakeholders on compliance monitoring and audits.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Contract Manager with a government contractor.
  • Understanding of FAR/DFARS and government unique requirements.
  • Proven record of judgment, discretion, and reasoning.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and penchant for accuracy, timeliness, and organization.
  • Problem-solving skills and program management experience.
  • Ability to independently drive contract negotiations to resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively, independently, and collaboratively with teams.
  • Demonstrated ability for continuous improvement and growth.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working for a manufacturer.
  • Familiarity with the General Services Administration Multiple Award Schedule vehicle.
  • Experience working with customers such as Department of Homeland Security and/or Department of Defense.
  • Capable of obtaining and maintaining a security clearance.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma.

Responsibilities

  • Support the evaluation of new business opportunities in coordination with Sales, Program Management, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide contractual guidance and lead contract negotiations.
  • Communicate requests and actions to stakeholders and owners clearly and concisely.
  • Prepare redlines reflecting SDI positions and negotiate terms and conditions.
  • Provide guidance on contracting processes and contract interpretation.
  • Drive efficient contract negotiation and execution with customers and subcontractors.
  • Oversee contract approval sign-off and maintain version control on contracts.
  • Serve as point-of-contact for contract-related matters.
  • Administer U.S. Federal government contracts and support stakeholders.
  • Maintain complete contract records and develop/maintain contract management processes.
  • Monitor contract life cycle including renewals, extensions, and close-outs.
  • Identify and analyze risk in collaboration with Legal and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on contract compliance monitoring and audits.
