The Government Biller and Collector plays a critical role in managing the full billing and collections cycle for government payers. This position ensures accurate claim submission, timely follow-up, and successful payment resolution in compliance with payer-specific guidelines, policies, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include maintaining deficiency lists to obtain missing documentation, resolving claim denials and rejections, preparing and packaging claims including global billing with professional fee attachments, conducting proactive follow-up with payers and related entities, and securing payment of outstanding accounts. The Government Biller and Collecto is accountable for all activities from initial billing through account closure.

Requirements

  • 5 years of hospital government payer and commercial collections experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of contract interpretation.
  • Familiarity with hospital billing requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with all payer types, including commercial, governmental, Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, etc., with the ability to work across multiple payer systems.
  • With Medicare: Must have experience using DDE or FISS systems.

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
