POSITION OVERVIEW: The Government Banking & Corporate Development Director leads the strategic development, relationship management, and overall performance of the Government and Corporate Banking initiatives. This role is responsible for expanding the bank’s deposit market share across public sector entities, tate owned enterprises, large not for profits and foundation boards by delivering tailored financial solutions and ensuring high standards of risk management, compliance and profitability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 8-10 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 8-10 years related Government Banking experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ business development experience.
  • Prior experience working with government agencies, ie; Municipalities; Universities, Hospitals.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to identify top talent and create career paths for the teams’ professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the division’s strategy in line with the bank’s overall plan.
  • Identify new business opportunities with government agencies, municipalities and large corporations.
  • Perform business development activities including sales calls and prospecting to establish new client relationships that meet bank profitability objectives.
  • Research and develop new products to meet client needs and build deposit revenue.
  • Meet with COI's to obtain new client opportunities.
  • Develop presentations to COI's to increase sales of new products and services.
  • Attend annual conferences and seminars to identify new client opportunities and promote the Bank’s position in the market.
  • Review and oversight of proposals and request for proposal responses.
  • Presentation and delivery of proposals to customers and their respective boards, as needed.
  • Evaluate pricing recommendations with Finance and Executive Management.
  • Provide competitive quotes on public fund deposit relationships.
  • Maintain the Bank’s existing Government client relationships, by providing exceptional service and expert knowledge, in accordance with Bank’s policies and procedures and profitability measurements
  • Oversight of the Government Banking department’s day-to-day operations, attainment of assigned annual goals, and overall success of the department and team.
  • Approve departmental transactions such as wires, ACH limits and RDC limits in accordance with authorities given.
  • Participate in committee meetings as directed by Executive Management.
  • Conduct meetings with direct reports to review results.
