ICI's mission is to strengthen the foundation of the asset management industry for the ultimate benefit of the long-term individual investor. The Government Affairs Manager, Financial Services Policy, will play a crucial role in advancing policy goals for ICI and its member companies. This position requires a strong focus on federal advocacy work, particularly concerning financial services issues that impact the Institute and its members. The Manager of Government Affairs will monitor public policy developments and advise the government affairs team on all matters relating to financial services issues, federal legislation, and public policy concerns. This role involves contributing to the development and implementation of effective advocacy strategies for key ICI priorities, representing ICI and its member companies before Congress, and attending important Congressional hearings to summarize them for the government affairs team. The position also requires establishing and maintaining a political network within the Administration and on Capitol Hill, particularly with the Senate Banking Committee and House Financial Services Committee. In addition to these responsibilities, the Government Affairs Manager will maintain excellent communications with DC-based representatives of ICI member companies, work collaboratively to advance ICI's legislative agenda, and build informal relationships with staff of other organizations and lobbyists. The role also includes participation in the planning and coordination of ICI conferences and committee meetings, organizing political events, and ensuring the effectiveness of the Institute's political programs, including ICI PAC. This position is integral to developing and maintaining close working relationships with staff in other ICI departments through teamwork and regular collaboration.
