About The Position

The Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Specialist II position at the State of Illinois involves supporting the Compliance Program within the Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT). This role focuses on identifying computer risks across various control domains, conducting research, and providing reports to higher-level staff. The specialist will implement security designs to mitigate risks and recommend changes based on industry security frameworks and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Knowledge equivalent to two years of college with coursework in computer science or related fields.
• One year of Systems Services or related Information Technology experience.
• Bilingual communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• One year of professional experience performing security compliance reviews within an IT environment.
• One year of professional experience using compliance frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, HIPAA.
• Working knowledge of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Federal Tax Information (FTI).
• Working knowledge of ServiceNow.

Responsibilities

• Identify computer risks for all control domains including network, system, data, and application.
• Conduct research and provide intermediate level reports to higher level staff.
• Implement security designs and approaches to resolve vulnerabilities and mitigate risks.
• Recommend security changes to system or system components utilizing industry security frameworks and regulatory requirements such as FISMA/NIST, CIS, ISO, HIPAA.
• Keep abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field through continuing education.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
