About The Position

Aleknagik Technology, LLC is searching for a qualified candidate to fill the role of Governance Data Architect. This position supports enterprise-level data governance initiatives for a federal health organization and requires close collaboration with technical, security, and mission stakeholders. The selected candidate must be within commuting distance of Falls Church, VA, as this role requires on-site and hybrid support in alignment with customer requirements.

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of experience in: Enterprise data governance and data architecture
  • 4–7 years of experience in: Metadata management and data catalog platforms
  • 4–7 years of experience in: Federated or hybrid data architectures
  • 4–7 years of experience in: DoD or federal data policy and compliance environments
  • 4–7 years of experience in: Translating governance policy into technical implementations
  • 4–7 years of experience in: Stakeholder engagement and technical leadership
  • 4–7 years of experience in: Risk-aware architecture and ATO-sensitive system design
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as: Engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as: Information Technology

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain enterprise data governance architecture supporting a federated data ecosystem.
  • Translate data governance policy and compliance requirements into implementable technical designs, patterns, and workflows.
  • Establish architectural standards for metadata management, stewardship, lineage, classification, and policy enforcement.
  • Ensure alignment with DoD, DHA, NIST, HIPAA, FISMA, RMF, and Zero Trust requirements.
  • Define metadata models and baseline data inventory frameworks cataloging authoritative and secondary-use data systems.
  • Establish standardized technical, business, operational, and security metadata elements.
  • Architect interim centralized repositories using approved platforms, ensuring proper access controls, versioning, and auditability.
  • Ensure repository and inventory designs are forward-compatible with enterprise data catalog solutions.
  • Support Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) efforts for enterprise data catalog platforms, including definition of evaluation criteria and technical assessments.
  • Define enterprise metadata standards, taxonomies, naming conventions, and lifecycle workflows.
  • Architect federated metadata exchange patterns across internal and external catalog platforms.
  • Enable role-based self-service data discovery and stewardship workflows.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT), usability assessments, and adoption strategies.
  • Collaborate with data owners, stewards, system owners, SMEs, and security stakeholders.
  • Provide architectural guidance for optional federated governance models and data product lifecycle management.
