About The Position

The Google Workspace Administrator is responsible for the administration, security, and ongoing operational support of Young Life’s Google Workspace environment. This role ensures reliable access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Groups, Google Calendar, and related Workspace services, while enforcing organizational security policies, identity governance, and compliance requirements. Under the supervision of the IT Infrastructure Manager, this position supports enterprise collaboration systems, manages user lifecycle operations, and assists with related infrastructure projects.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience administering Google Workspace in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with identity Identity and access Access management Management (IAM), including Single Sign On (SSO) and directory integrations.
  • Experience managing organizational Organizational units Units (OUs), group policy structures, and role-based admin delegation.
  • Strong knowledge of Google Groups, Shared Drives, and file sharing permissions.
  • Experience with email troubleshooting including routing, SPF (Sender Policy Framework)/DKIM (Domain Key Idenfified Mail)/DMARC (Domain Message Authentication Reporting and Conformance), spam filtering, and mail flow analysis.
  • Experience with Google Vault, retention policies, and eDiscovery workflows.
  • Experience with automation tools such as GAM (Google Apps Manager), Google Workspace API s (Application Program Interfaces), or scripting with PowerShell/Python.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff.
  • Experience working with IT security frameworks and applying security controls to collaboration platforms.
  • College degree in a computer-related field desired (experience may be considered in lieu of education).

  • Experience with endpoint management solutions (ChromeOS management, mobile device management, Windows/macOS integration).
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 or hybrid collaboration environments.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services or Azure cloud services and identity integrations.
  • Familiarity with DLP solutions and compliance auditing tools.
  • Experience supporting large-scale nonprofit or distributed workforce environments.
  • Google Workspace certifications preferred (e.g., Google Professional Workspace Administrator).

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the Google Workspace environment, including Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Groups, Meet, and related services.
  • Manage user provisioning and deprovisioning, including account lifecycle management, Organization Unit structure, and role-based access controls.
  • Configure and maintain Google Admin Console settings including security controls, authentication policies, and device management.
  • Manage Google Groups structure, permissions, ownership, and membership, ensuring proper access to file shares and shared drives.
  • Support Shared Drives administration including ownership models, sharing controls, retention policies, and permission auditing.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices such as Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) enforcement, Conditional Access equivalents, and session controls.
  • Configure and monitor Google Workspace audit logs and reporting dashboards to identify suspicious activity and compliance gaps.
  • Administer Google Vault for eDiscovery, retention policies, legal holds, and export requests as required.
  • Support data governance initiatives including Drive sharing restrictions, external sharing policies, and data Data loss Loss prevention Prevention (DLP) settings.
  • Troubleshoot Workspace authentication, email routing, delivery issues, and end-user access problems.
  • Provide Tier-3 escalation support for the Service Center and remote Young Life staff related to Google Workspace services.
  • Coordinate with IT Security, Help Desk, and Infrastructure teams to implement Workspace security and compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain documentation of Google Workspace configurations, policies, and operational procedures.
  • Coordinate with vendors and Google support for troubleshooting and escalations as needed.
  • Assist with infrastructure-related projects that integrate with Workspace, including SSO, identity federation, and automation tools.
