About the position

The Engineering Support Specialist, GOM Planning will play a crucial role in the Gulf of Mexico Business Unit by supporting both short- and long-term planning and controlling program execution. This position involves close collaboration with various operational groups to gather, analyze, and reconcile data necessary for effective planning and execution. The specialist will provide data analysis and support to the Portfolio Management team, create reports and tools for data visualization, and identify opportunities to streamline data flows for increased efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Support short- and long-term planning for the Gulf of Mexico Business Unit.
  • Control program execution while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Gather, analyze, and reconcile necessary data in collaboration with Assets, Plants, and Operational Support groups.
  • Provide data, analysis, and support to the Portfolio Management team.
  • Create reports and tools to visualize and analyze data.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline data flows for increased workgroup efficiencies.
  • Prepare economic analysis output and reports.
  • Retrieve and analyze data sets from corporate databases and reports.
  • Support skill-based knowledge transfer with team members.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of data analytics concepts and research skills.
  • Proficient in SharePoint and/or PowerBI for data management and mining.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Excel Power Query).
  • Experience with oil and gas economic software.
  • Basic knowledge of Finance and Accounting.
  • Strong personal initiative and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • 5+ years of industry experience.
  • Associate degree or higher in a related field (Information Systems, Finance, Math, Data Analytics).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with oil and gas economic software (Peep, Aries, or Mosaic preferred).
  • SQL query building and data management experience preferred.
  • Experience in gathering SAP accounting data preferred.
  • Dashboard development experience using TIBCO Spotfire or PowerBI preferred.
  • Proficiency in utilizing economics software and reserves management systems preferred.
