About The Position

The Golf Shop Assistant will provide exceptional customer service and assist all guests in a professional and efficient manner to ensure the best golfing experience possible. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Control and manage daily play, ensure guest check in and collect fees. Keep in constant contact with the Starter, Outside Service Attendants and Marshals to keep them aware of any situations or circumstances that may affect play. Follow up with the Starter and Marshals on a regular basis to stay abreast of any pace of play issues on the golf course or on the 1st tee. Assist the Marshals if needed to keep play moving at our recommended pace of play of four hours and 16 minutes for 18 holes. Ensure the practice facility and the driving range area is kept clean and the driving range machine is kept full of balls at all times Ensure range is picked clean at the end of each day, balls are washed and ball machine is ready for the next day’s business. Assist the Men’s Club and Ladies’ Club with any of their upcoming events. Enforce all rules and regulations governing golf course usage and play. Ensure opening and/or closing procedures for the golf shop. Assist in training new employees in the areas of golf shop policies, procedures, and the operation of the POS system. Assist with physical inventories and support the merchandiser. Help stock, price, display, and sell merchandise in the golf shop. Clean, straighten, and size clothing as time permits. Keep the front desk neat and organized during your shift. Be informed and promote all golf course activities at The Links. Always conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image, lead by example and act as a role model for all employees of The Links. Represent The Links as a professional at all times. If needed, may stage carts, wash carts, and make sure they are restocked with sand, pencil, scorecard and inspected to make sure they are always in good working condition. Put away all equipment used for the day, close all doors, turn off the lights and lock all cart barn doors. Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of two years' experience in customer service.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to help in many different tasks including golf shop, food and beverage and outside services for the Golf Clubhouse.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to interpret documents and reports.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems and situations reasonably.
  • Must be able to work shifts starting at 5:30 a.m. and work closing shifts ending as late as 9:30 p.m.
  • Must be able to work on weekends and holidays.
  • Must poses a Valid California driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer to have someone with some knowledge of golf.
  • Prefer to have someone familiar with the program FORE! Reservation.
