About The Position

The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and management of golf course properties, reporting directly to the Director of Golf Course Maintenance. This role involves overseeing the maintenance of the golf course, supervising staff, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards related to golf course operations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED, some college preferred.
• Minimum of five years experience in golf course management/maintenance.
• Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices.
• Working knowledge of golf facility construction principles and practices.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws affecting golf course operations.
• Current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.

Nice To Haves

• Basic computer skills, including MS Office.
• Moderate accounting knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain golf course properties including the golf course, maintenance equipment, and clubhouse grounds.
• Supervise the construction and maintenance of the golf course and related facilities.
• Render professional advice and assistance to the facility's board of directors or managing body as required.
• Participate in long-range planning meetings and prepare annual budgets for maintenance and capital improvements.
• Interview, hire, train, direct, and supervise a staff of employees for property maintenance.
• Plan maintenance and project work applying agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve maintenance standards and long-range goals.
• Oversee scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish work.
• Inspect the golf course and related areas to evaluate management standards and implement changes as needed.
• Acquire equipment and purchase necessary supplies for maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records on payroll, inventory, weather data, and maintenance procedures.
