About The Position

The Golf Course Superintendent (Golf Course Supt II) is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of the Jefferson District Golf Facility, a 9-hole executive course. This role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive turf management program, managing staff, and ensuring the safety and operational efficiency of the golf course. The superintendent will also handle budgeting, staff training, and compliance with safety standards, while working under the direction of the Director of Agronomy and Golf Division Director.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a two-year associate degree program in agronomy, turfgrass management, recreation and parks, horticulture, or related field.
  • Three years' experience as a golf course superintendent or in a similar position.
  • Driver's license (Required).
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License (Required).
  • Certified Fertilizer Applicator License (Required within 6 months).

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Experience as an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent or in a similar role.
  • Certified Fertilizer Applicator License.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the maintenance and operation of a large fleet of golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Develop and implement a detailed turf management plan for greens, tees, roughs, and lawn areas.
  • Establish criteria for golf course playability and authorize the opening and closing of the grounds.
  • Supervise the maintenance and operation of an automated irrigation system.
  • Plan and supervise major improvement projects such as greens and tees construction and site landscaping.
  • Authorize purchase requests and invoices for payment.
  • Inspect park facilities and grounds for safety hazards and operational deficiencies.
  • Accountable for the purchase, storage, application, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Compile and retain operational and safety records and comply with safety standards.
  • Develop budget justifications for capital equipment and annual operating supplies.
  • Hire, supervise, schedule, and evaluate staff.
  • Plan and conduct specialized on-site staff training.
  • Complete and submit various financial, administrative, and statistical reports.
