About The Position

History and spectacular landscapes come together, at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Celebrated landmarks, including Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and the University of Virginia, are clustered here among swathes of the East Coast's most beautiful scenery. The region is also home to over 25 wineries, breweries and cideries. This is the setting for Keswick Hall, an impressive 80-room luxury boutique hotel nestled on 600 acres which recently re-opened in 2021 after renovations. Home to the prestigious Keswick Golf Club, Marigold Restaurant, by Jean-Georges, a new luxury spa and sports and aquatics center.

Requirements

  • Complete knowledge of chemical application equipment.
  • Ability to recognize healthy and unhealthy turf, identification of weeds, insects and diseases. Mathematical calibrations. Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends and holidays. Strong customer relations skills.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 1-3 years of Golf Course experience. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
  • Current state certification or licensing as pesticide applicator.
  • American Red-Cross first-aid training.
  • Completion of training requirements as demanded by the state and federal governments, including those required by the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard.
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all spray programs pertaining to turf and ornamentals.
  • Keep chemical room neat, clean, and locked at all times.
  • Required to follow “label” recommendations on all products.
  • Keep a bulletin board in chemical room, and post all MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) labels on all products in stock.
  • Must keep extremely accurate records on all applications and products to comply with E.P.A., local, and state laws. This area is subject to inspection at any time by these agencies.
  • Must use proper safety equipment (respirators, disposable suits, gloves, rubber boots, goggles, etc.).
  • Must have ability to calibrate equipment for accurate and safe application of all chemicals.
  • Dispose of all empty chemical containers and products in accordance with the label and the law.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
