Position Summary: The Golf Course Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall condition of all golf course maintenance equipment. This includes gas and diesel engines, utility carts, mowers, tractors, small engines, and various specialized turf equipment. The Mechanic works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and ensures that all machinery is operating safely, efficiently, and reliably to support daily course operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of mechanical experience, preferably in golf course or turf maintenance equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of small engine repair, hydraulic systems, and reel mower maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects/failures in various golf course and maintenance equipment, including diesel, gas, hydraulic, and electric-powered machinery.
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventive care on all equipment including oil changes, filter replacement, belt and blade adjustments, tire repair, and battery charging.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance facility and work environment.
  • Keep detailed records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and part usage.
  • Ensure mowers are sharpened and cutting units are adjusted for optimal turf health.
  • Maintain parts inventory and order necessary supplies as needed.
  • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate with the Superintendent for scheduling maintenance to avoid disruptions.
  • Train and assist crew members in the proper operation and daily maintenance of equipment.
  • Comply with OSHA regulations and safety procedures at all times.
