About The Position

Under the supervision of the Deputy Directors of Parks, this position will be responsible for the following tasks at the South Park Golf Course scheduling and overseeing staff, booking special events and programs, overseeing all revenue associated with the golf course, handling complaints, and communicating with maintenance issues that arise. This position will assist the Parks Department with other necessary tasks as designated. Overview Allegheny County, with a population of approximately 1.3 million, is the second largest county in the State of Pennsylvania. The County Parks Department sustains and enhances the growth and quality of a diverse group of well-managed and financially sound regional assets. The large list of diverse facilities and open space in the 12,038 acres contained in our parks system encourages the involvement of people of all ages through park programs, leagues, and volunteering opportunities. The Parks system encompasses a variety of activities and amenities including three wave pools, one swimming pool, ski slopes, snow tubing, two ice rinks, and over 400 rental facilities. The County Parks System strives to be one of the top amenities in the County, by retaining and attracting residents and improving the overall quality of life for our region.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and five (5) years of experience working at a golf course, to include one year of managing or supervising staff.
  • Knowledge of The game of golf and its operations.
  • Knowledge of Management and supervision principles and practices.
  • Skill in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Skill in Point-of-sale (POS) and Tee Time Software.
  • Ability to Provide comprehensive customer service in a calm and professional manner.
  • Ability to Operate the point-of-sale and digital time clock systems.
  • Ability to Work variable hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to include on-site work during programs and special events to ensure success and safety.
  • Ability to Thrive in a very busy and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to Solve problems related to operations, facilities, and programming.
  • Ability to Maintain excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to Demonstrate reliability and dependability in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the Golf Course Assistant Manager and all of the subordinate employee resources at the golf course.
  • Hires and trains staff as necessary. Engages appropriate Parks upper management on necessary employee escalation matters.
  • Schedules and supervises staff effectively and appropriately.
  • Instructs (either self or through subordinate staff) seasonal employees in the duties and responsibilities of their positions.
  • Ensures a safe recreation environment for patrons of the facility.
  • Promotes favorable public relations and instructs employees in the application of tact and courtesy in dealing with the public.
  • Accounts for all revenue received and ensures daily deposits are made and prepares financial and attendance reports for the facility.
  • Places service order requests as needed for maintenance issues.
  • Tracks inventory of pro shop items and adds input of new items to carry, also including ordering and maintaining a supply of score cards, cart agreements, and cleaning supplies.
  • Corresponds with the Recreation Program Coordinator to come up with new ideas for programs/events at the facility and assists in the coordination of special events and programs at the facility. Also collaborates with the Marketing team to advertise the facility.
  • Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
