Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience as a GM technician, including diagnostic and electrical systems expertise
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring a technical team
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Proficiency with GM systems

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a Shop Foreman, Team Lead, or equivalent role within a GM dealership or certified repair facility
  • Familiarity with dealership DMS systems (Tekion, CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds)
  • ASE certifications in addition to GM credentials

Responsibilities

  • Leading and supervising a team of GM technicians, apprentices, and shop staff
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the service shop, including technician workflow, repair order distribution, and quality control
  • Performing advanced diagnostics and assisting with complex repairs
  • Serving as a technical expert and mentor to developing technicians
  • Ensuring all repairs meet GM factory specifications and safety standards
  • Collaborating with Service Advisors to support clear communication and timely client updates
  • Supporting ongoing training and professional development across the service team
  • Monitoring shop productivity, technician performance, and department efficiency metrics
  • Maintaining compliance with GM warranty processes and dealership policies
  • Participating in technician recruitment and development initiatives
  • Attending weekly department meetings to contribute to team improvement and alignment
