About The Position

General Manager (GM), Health Systems is experienced and results-oriented, managing our strategic relationships, business development, and operational performance with large health systems and integrated delivery networks (IDNs). This critical leadership role is responsible for securing and driving revenue growth, enhancing market share within health systems, and ensuring exceptional service delivery and partnership success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial, general management, or executive leadership roles within the healthcare industry.
  • Significant experience managing large, complex relationships and contracts with health systems, IDNs, or large hospital networks.
  • Demonstrated P&L responsibility and success in driving significant revenue and EBITDA growth.
  • Exceptional executive-level communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Deep understanding of the financial and operational drivers of health systems, value-based care models, and laboratory outreach.
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate high-performing commercial and account management teams.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, MHA, or other advanced degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in the diagnostic laboratory, pathology, or highly specialized medical services sector is a significant advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the CCO, the Health Systems physician leadership and sales teams, the Laboratory Operations, and Executive Leadership to manage PathGroup's health system portfolio of clients, define market strategy, health system pricing, and service offerings tailored to the unique needs of health system partners.
  • Drive P&L performance for the Health Systems portfolio, ensuring revenue, profitability, and market share targets are met or exceeded.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to grow new and existing business with large health systems, hospitals, and IDNs, in close alignment with our Pathology leadership and the Health System sales team.
  • Serve as the primary executive contact for major Health Systems accounts, building and maintaining strong, long-lasting relationships at the C-suite and executive levels.
  • Lead complex contract negotiations, renewals, and service level agreement (SLA) discussions, ensuring favorable terms and mutual success.
  • Partner closely with the Sales, Account Management, and Health System Service teams dedicated to the Health Systems segment, ensuring alignment with commercial strategy and service excellence.
  • Monitor competitive activity, market trends, and regulatory changes (e.g., value-based care, CMS policies) to proactively adjust commercial strategy.
  • Collaborate with Lab Operations, IT, and Health System sales teams to ensure seamless new health system implementation and ongoing service delivery for new and existing health system accounts.
  • Drive initiatives to improve patient care quality, turnaround time (TAT), utilization management, and overall pathology service efficiency for partners.
  • Partner with IT to ensure the practice's services are effectively integrated with health system electronic medical records (EMRs) and clinical workflows.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for the Health Systems segment.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to customer satisfaction (CSAT), profitability, growth, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide regular, detailed reporting and strategic recommendations to the CCO and Executive Team.
  • Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
  • Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.
  • Work with other departments within PathGroup and subsidiaries.
