About The Position

The Global Exchange Academy (GlobalX) is seeking innovative, student-centered educators to design and teach courses for our Elementary School Summer Programs. Join our team to create enriching, dynamic learning experiences that inspire learning and growth in students this summer! Position Details Program Duration : Up to 7 weeks (dates may vary by course) Work Hours : Monday Friday, 7:30 AM 5:00 PM (hours may vary by course) Orientation : Mandatory in-person session for new teachers

Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements
  • Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience working in a school environment.
  • At least one (1) year of teaching experience.
  • Experience with project-based learning, the inquiry process, design thinking, or experiential education.
  • Experience working with students of all ages.
  • Experience working in Canvas.
  • Experience working in Google suite.
  • Strong verbal, nonverbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit a course syllabus and weekly lesson plans that follow GlobalX curriculum guidelines.
  • Create and maintain a Canvas (LMS) page with course content, narratives, weekly blogs, pictures, and provide prompt and effective communication with families.
  • Maintain effective classroom management and communication, liaising with GlobalX Staff, Elementary School Administration, and parents as needed.
  • Build relationships with students and encourage active participation throughout the course.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and resources for learning that reflect an understanding of the diverse learning styles of students.
  • Monitor students progress through the course and provide ongoing feedback on their achievement.
  • Grade assignments, projects, and assessments in a timely manner.
  • Supervise students during out of classroom activities (e.g. recess, lunch, etc.).
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director.
  • Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Comply with the instructions given for their own safety and health and that of others, in adhering to safe work procedures.
  • Take reasonable care to ensure their own safety and health and that of others.
  • Report any injury, hazard or illness immediately to their Supervisor and Human Resources.
  • Not place others at risk by any act or omission, not willfully or recklessly interfere with safety equipment.
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviors.
  • Identify, assess if necessary, and control hazards within the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that equipment/supplies are properly maintained.
  • Maintain relevant knowledge of safety laws.
  • Mandatory reporting of sexual abuse to law enforcement or child protective services, and Human Resources.
  • Demonstrating Professional Body of Knowledge : A professional demonstrates an understanding of practice area knowledge and appreciates learning more about this practice area and beyond.
