The Global Tax Quality Advanced Technology Lead reports to the Global Tax Quality Leader and Deputy Global Tax Quality Leader and is expected to be a full-time role. The opportunity We are looking for a dynamic and experienced leader for the position of Global Tax Quality Advanced Technology Lead. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving quality and excellence in the application of emerging technologies to enhance tax services. This is a unique opportunity to take on a critical leadership role that drives compliance, strengthens risk management, and fosters innovation in the delivery of tax services. The role offers exposure to cutting-edge solutions such as AI, blockchain, and other technologies enabling us to deliver traditional tax services more efficiently and offer enhanced services with greater client value. You will collaborate with senior leaders across geographies to embed quality standards, manage governance and risk controls, and align technology-driven processes with EY’s global strategies, policies, and methodologies. As the Global Tax Quality Advanced Technology Lead, working closely with the Global Tax Quality leadership team, you will define and implement global tax quality standards for tech-enabled services, oversee governance for use of emerging technologies, advise tax leaders regarding opportunities and risks of emerging technology, and champion commercially viable risk mitigation strategies. The role will involve regular collaboration with functions outside of Tax including Risk Management, Data Protection, Independence, General Counsel’s Office, Information Security, and Client Technology. It requires technological proficiency and a commitment to developing an understanding of EY’s tax services. The Global Tax Quality Advanced Technology Lead supports the development of tax technology that not only meets client needs but also upholds the highest standards of quality and compliance. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping our approach to delivering tax technology solutions that are effective, reliable, and aligned with our commitment to excellence, while enabling the business and empowering our professionals to provide exceptional client service through the delivery of advanced tax technology solutions. The role centers on protecting EY’s brand and reputation by promoting quality and compliance in technology-driven tax services while enabling innovation. The Global Tax Quality Advanced Technology Lead may also support Global Tax Quality with other special projects and broader quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate/University degree; advanced degree in a technology related qualification
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in technology
  • Expertise in emerging technologies and regulatory landscapes
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data to drive decisions
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively interact with, respond to, and influence leaders at all levels
  • Able to balance the need to be approachable and supportive with the requirement to be resolute and resilient in challenging situations
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity
  • Flexibility to accommodate calls and meetings across time zones

Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and implement global standards to support the development of high-quality tech-driven tax solutions
  • Oversee governance and risk controls for AI, blockchain, and other emerging technologies in tax processes, including quantum computing as it develops
  • Collaborate with global leaders to embed quality standards into the delivery of tax services and support regulatory compliance, including responsible use of AI
  • Remain up to date with emerging technologies, analyze implications for tax services, and identify opportunities and risks associated with their implementation
  • Communicate key technology risks and strategies for mitigation to both Client Technology leaders and Tax leaders
  • Discuss technology solutions in technological terms with Client Technology and technology developers
  • Translate complex technological concepts into clear, actionable insights for Tax leaders and professionals with varying levels of technological expertise
  • Develop an understanding of our tax compliance and tax advisory services and market strategies to effectively support our tax professionals’ and clients’ use of technology
  • Work closely with functions including Risk Management, Data Protection, Independence, General Counsel’s Office, Information Security, and Client Technology to support safe and effective use of innovative technology
  • Support Region Tax Quality teams in identifying and managing risks of emerging technology
  • Educate tax professionals regarding emerging technology
  • Provide Tax Quality support to professionals in Tax Technology and Transformation practice

  • The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $212,500 to $545,500.
  • The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $255,000 to $619,900.
  • Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.
  • In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
