Global Supply Manager, CapEx Equipment & Systems

Heirloom CarbonBrisbane, CA
1d

About The Position

As a member of Heirloom’s Supply Chain team, you will design, secure, and execute the global supply systems needed to support effective carbon removal at scale. Your work spans the entire project lifecycle, from conceptualizing sourcing strategies to maturing technical specifications and "should-cost" modeling, and finally executing firm-price contracts for highly engineered systems in FEL 3. You will lead the commercial negotiations and scaled deployments of highly engineered equipment and systems for Heirloom’s Direct Air Capture Plant. In doing so, your work will directly move the needle on Heirloom’s core technology, enabling the low-cost, scalable infrastructure required to meet our goal of removing 1 billion tons of CO2 from the atmosphere. In this role, you will apply the principles of strategic sourcing, technical rigor, and project execution to ensure that our supply chain is resilient and ready to scale efficiently. You will directly own the end-to-end lifecycle of highly engineered equipment, managing everything from initial supplier identification and multi-million dollar negotiations to factory fabrication and on-site delivery. You will be presented with complex technical and logistical problems, requiring you to bridge the gap between world-class Engineering, Technology, and Project Management teams. You will work alongside a team of dedicated professionals committed to delivering high-quality, sustainable supply chain solutions.

Requirements

  • 8–10 Years of Experience: Progressive experience in global sourcing for complex capital equipment (EPC/EPCM environments) or industrializing supply chains for process-heavy industries or CCUS (Carbon Capture Utilization and Sequestration)
  • FEL Expertise: Deep understanding of the FEL (Front End Loading) and FEED (Front End Engineering and Development) framework. You know what commercial data is required at each stage to move a project toward FID.
  • Technical Rigor: Ability to "speak engineer." You can interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and complex Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Biomass/Industrial Logistics: Experience in bulk material handling, commodity sourcing, or large-scale industrial feedstock logistics.
  • Mindset: Proven ability to "reverse sell" Heirloom as a customer to world-class suppliers and maintain comfort in escalating critical risks to senior leadership when necessary.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to reverse sell Heirloom as a customer to suppliers
  • Demonstration of strong relationship management success
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • A doer and completer mentality - instigate and drive projects through to their completion

Responsibilities

  • Lead the supply chain strategy for engineered equipment and systems for Heirloom’s Direct Air Capture project development
  • Identify global supply market capabilities, establish preliminary should-cost models, and define the sourcing roadmap for novel technologies.
  • Drive Request for Information (RFI) processes, secure budget pricing with AACE Class 2-4 accuracy, and lead Value Engineering to optimize the plant’s CapEx & opex costs and schedule.
  • Lead the formal RFP process, negotiate large contracts, and finalize Quality/Logistics plans to support the Final Investment Decision (FID).
  • Strategic Sourcing & Phase-Gate Management: Develop sourcing strategies that align with FEL project milestones. Ensure supplier deliverables (lead times, weights, dimensions, utilities) are integrated into the engineering design at each gate.
  • End-to-End Project Execution: Manage the transition from "sourcing" to "execution." Oversee supplier performance through design, fabrication, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to ensure systems arrive on-site ready for commissioning.
  • Biomass & Process Logistics: Own the complex inbound/outbound logistics for the project, including biomass feedstock supply chains, residue management, and the "last mile" transport of massive capital modules.
  • Total Cost of Ownership (TCO): Use first-principles modeling to drive down the cost per ton for CO2 capture and sequestration. You will be responsible for cost certainty and identifying long-lead items that could jeopardize the project schedule.
  • Commercial Leadership: Lead high-stakes negotiations for multi-million dollar contracts, managing complex terms including performance guarantees, liquidated damages, and intellectual property.

Benefits

  • Excellent health, dental and vision insurance covered up to 100% by Heirloom. FSA option.
  • 16 weeks paid parental leave for all Heirloom employees.
  • Generous stock options.
  • Unlimited PTO for exempt (salaried) employees & 120 hours for full time non-exempt (hourly) employees.
  • 401(k).
  • Monthly health and wellness reimbursement.
