About The Position

The Global Quality Manager - Sanitation & Hygiene Programs is a corporate quality leader responsible for establishing, governing, and advancing enterprise wide standards for sanitation, hygienic design, environmental monitoring, and water management across Clorox’s global manufacturing network. This role applies microbiological science and risk based thinking to proactively prevent contamination, strengthen process capability, and enable consistent, high quality execution across sites, suppliers, and contract manufacturers. Operating within Corporate Quality, the role partners closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, AMS, and external laboratories to embed hygienic design and sanitation excellence into both existing operations and new innovations. Through technical authority, influence, and capability building, the role drives sustainable quality outcomes that protect consumers, support business continuity, and align with Clorox’s growth and innovation strategies.

Requirements

  • 7+ years progressive experience in applied and/or industrial microbiology, sanitation, hygienic design, or quality within CPG, food, personal care, or regulated manufacturing.
  • B.S. in Microbiology, Food Science, Biology, Biochemistry, Medical Technology, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience setting standards and leading enterprise or multi‑site initiatives.
  • Proven ability to translate microbiological science into operationally effective systems.
  • Influence without authority across multiple BUs/sites; change leadership for global reapplication.
  • Systems thinking: Connects lab methods, process controls, EM, and QMS analytics.
  • Decisive under pressure: Rapid, data-based decision making in incidents; clear risk communication.
  • Change leadership: Orchestrates global reapplication, training, and compliance sustainment.
  • Data fluency: Experimental design, trend analytics, anomaly detection
  • Strong business acumen with ability to balance risk, cost, and practicality.
  • Structured problem‑solving, root cause analysis, and data‑driven decision making.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and leading change at enterprise scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve enterprise sanitation, hygienic design, environmental monitoring, and water management standards, policies, and playbooks.
  • Translate microbiological risk principles into practical, scalable standards applicable across diverse product categories and manufacturing technologies.
  • Serve as the corporate microbiology authority for sanitation system design, cleaning validation, and contamination prevention.
  • Establish clear expectations for hygienic equipment and facility design, partnering with Engineering to embed requirements into capital projects and change management.
  • Ensure standards align with regulatory expectations, industry best practices, and Clorox internal quality systems.
  • Lead the global environmental monitoring framework, including risk‑based zoning, sampling strategies, data interpretation, and response protocols.
  • Provide technical leadership for process water, utility water, and wastewater microbiological risk management, including monitoring, controls, and corrective actions.
  • Develop standardized tools to trend environmental and water data to enable early risk detection and prevention.
  • Partner with sites to evolve monitoring programs from compliance‑focused to capability‑driven systems.
  • Drive microbiology‑focused process improvement initiatives that reduce sanitation failures, contamination events, and variability.
  • Influence manufacturing and engineering partners to integrate cleanability, materials of construction, and micro‑robust design into equipment and process decisions.
  • Provide consultation and technical leadership during new equipment introduction, process changes, and product innovations.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action for complex sanitation and microbiological issues with enterprise impact.
  • Establish and lead a global network of site sanitation/microbiology leaders, providing coaching and escalation support.
  • Build organizational capability through training, technical guidance, and coaching of Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering partners.
  • Lead development of standardized tools, job aids, and learning content related to sanitation, hygienic design, and microbiological risk.
  • Influence without authority across a highly matrixed organization; serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders.
  • Contribute to enterprise quality strategy, prioritization, and long‑term capability roadmaps.
  • Support identification, qualification, and governance of external microbiology laboratories to ensure capability, consistency, and compliance.
  • Define expectations for test methods, turnaround time, data integrity, and interpretation across internal and external labs.
  • Partner with AMS, R&D, and Quality to evaluate and adopt new microbiological methods and technologies where value‑adding.
