About The Position

The Global Project Chief (Global PC) is the technical program leader for the PHES cooling architecture, responsible for system definition and for leading the technical team during the Advanced phase (pre-Contract Milestone). The role serves as the main point of contact between the PHES design team and all relevant functional areas, including Program Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Vehicle performance (EMAT). Role Mission: Ensure a robust and efficient cooling system technical solution supporting vehicle approval and supplier nomination for architectural components. Lead the definition of the PHES cooling architecture and system with the support of DRE, EL & DR teams (Within the cooling system department, the Global PC is supported by the Cooling Architect).

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent accredited program.
  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience.
  • Strong leader with entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to drive resolution amongst all stakeholders
  • Must be self-sufficient with ability to influence and lead others without formal authority
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience and confidence in communicating status to a varied audience including top management
  • Strong knowledge and experience with automotive Cooling system components and the guiding principles of operation behind them
  • General knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes including molding, stamping, welding, brazing, machining, castings, and coatings
  • Knowledge of automotive packaging and general automotive assembly practices

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited program
  • Familiarity with cooling component electrical software and controls
  • Experience with cooling system vehicle testing
  • Experience in DFSS (Design for Six Sigma)
  • Working knowledge of UG/NX/Teamcenter CAD systems
  • Knowledge of Stellantis systems and/or products a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead system Bill of Material definition for new programs to meet functional and complexity targets
  • Understand vehicle functional objectives to drive cooling system architecture and component requirements.
  • Responsible for working with all key stakeholders and cross-functional teams to mature cooling architecture and evaluate functional objectives at all key advanced program milestones.
  • Develop and communicate component development timelines to meet program milestones
  • Provide directional cost and timing for new programs (including validation).
  • Initiate the source package and drive completion of sourcing to meet all program milestones
  • Lead the technical team to supplier nomination for architectural components.
  • Act as point of contact for suppliers during sourcing for program information and pre-development activities
  • Interface with Proto Build engineer to communicate preferred suppliers and provide part list for mules/dynos
  • Support mule packaging convergence meetings.
  • Apply Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies to enhance the quality, reliability, and performance of cooling system components
  • Ensure read-across and Lessons Learned of technical solutions applied across the architecture.
