The Global Project Automation Lead position is an exciting opportunity to join PM Group’s quickly growing Raleigh/Durham area Outsourced Technical Services(OTS) team out of Apex, NC. Requirements

  • 10–15+ years in automation/controls leadership on large industrial or life sciences/pharma capital projects (concept → design → execution).
  • Proven ownership of automation scope across multiple platforms and vendors; strong interface management with AE partners.
  • Strong working knowledge across several of the following: DCS/PAS, PLC/SCADA, BAS, MES, PI/historian, OT networks/integration, and validation/GxP impacts.
  • Deep experience driving schedule-critical deliverables (URs/FRs/DS, IO lists, architecture, interface specs, FAT/SAT readiness) and keep cross-functional teams aligned.
  • Comfortable operating in a matrix environment—able to influence without direct authority and make clear, documented decisions.
  • Strong risk/issue management, change management discipline, and executive-level communication.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the project leader to confirm the site automation strategy (integration approach, standards, requirements, and roadmap)
  • Own automation scope alignment from bid stage through detailed design and site execution—make sure vendor packages fully meet client requirements.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for Automation across:
  • Design team and site stakeholders
  • AE (Architect/Engineer) design team
  • Project Controls / PMO for schedule integration and reporting
  • Lead vendor and design coordination for automation-related systems (PAS/DCS, BAS, MES, PI/historian, PLC/SCADA and related interfaces).
  • Manage technical decisions, issue resolution, and change control impacting automation scope.
  • Escalate safety, cost, schedule, and technical risks early with clear options and recommendations.
  • Provide concise updates to project core team and leadership (progress, risks, decisions required, upcoming milestones).
