About The Position

Global Product Line Technical Manager wanted in Troy, Michigan to define product architecture and design solutions to business pursuit team for quoting; provides customer product requirements and specifications guidance to team members and supports resolution of conflicts and issues; lead pre-award product development activities and analysis; provides supervision and technical guidance to project or activity team members; communicates development goals and timing to engineering and design staff; has authority to initiate and approve design/engineering changes and studies; responsible to document and communicate lessons-learned and best practices to engineering and design organization; supports the development and maintenance of product strategy and supporting technology roadmaps; supports the development and maintenance of literature and presentation materials to promote product offerings; provides product technical guidance to program teams to ensure successful manufacturing launch of new products; identifies and promotes the best-in-class dimensional strategy. Lead activity to improve methodology to Part tuning; identifies and promotes continuous improvement of products, processes, and systems; identify and communicate market trends and significant changes to regulations; responsible to develop/maintain a current understanding of vehicle legislation and regulations (FMVSS) or OEM Component/System Requirements that apply to product area of responsibility. Determine and apply these Standards as required to our Product Designs; coordinates and monitors completion of the CAE/FEA execution and accuracy during the product pre-development stage; maintains an awareness and understanding of competitor capabilities and market position; develops and maintains positive relationships with internal and external customers; and adherence to Magna's Corporate Constitution, Employee Charter, Code of Conduct, etc.; Tolerance analysis of plastic parts for automotive plastic parts and production; develop suppliers for checking fixtures; perform stack-up analysis and negotiated tolerance with OEM requirements; conduct 1D and 3D measurement analysis of parts during launch and support PPAP capability studies; review GD&T for checking fixtures; and, analyze CMM and SPC data for part geometry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Aided Engineering
  • 60 months of related experience as a Product Line Technical Manager, Manufacturing Engineer, Geometry Engineer or Weight Engineer
  • Tolerance analysis of plastic parts for automotive plastic parts and production
  • Developing suppliers for checking fixtures
  • Performing stack-up analysis and negotiated tolerance with OEM requirements
  • Conducting 1D and 3D measurement analysis of parts during launch and support PPAP capability studies
  • Reviewing GD&T for checking fixtures
  • Analyzing CMM and SPC data for part geometry
