About The Position

The Director, Global Process Owner - Time to Pay, is responsible for defining and driving the global payroll strategy, leading the end-to-end transformation of Time and Payroll processes across all regions. This role is critical to the successful transition of payroll operations to the evolving Global Business Solutions (GBS) HR organization, harmonizing global processes, and building future-state capabilities including US payroll insourcing. The role partners across the HR pillars and serves as the strategic owner for global payroll and time processes, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, scalability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, Finance, or related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in payroll, HR operations, or related global process ownership roles.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role managing global teams or transformation programs.
  • Proven success leading large-scale payroll transformations and/or GBS transitions.
  • Experience with building or leading payroll in the US preferred.
  • Significant experience with Workday.
  • Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the global strategic leader for the Time to Pay process, which includes time tracking, payroll processing, and related upstream/downstream systems and integrations.
  • Define the long-term vision and strategic roadmap for payroll operations globally, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and HR's evolving four-pillar model (HRBP, HR Generalist, COE, GBS).
  • Build and maintain a global payroll governance framework, setting standards for process design, data accuracy, compliance, and technology usage.
  • Partner with senior HR, Finance, and IT leadership to ensure payroll strategy supports global workforce trends, regulatory changes, and business expansion or consolidation plans.
  • Represent the Time to Pay process in global HR governance forums and decision-making bodies, advocating for funding, resources, and prioritization of payroll-related initiatives.
  • Lead a global project to assess, simplify, and harmonize the current state of payroll and timekeeping processes across all regions and entities.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops to identify problems, country-specific deviations, and opportunities for standardization.
  • Design the future-state Time to Pay process that balances global consistency with local compliance and operational requirements.
  • Drive the phased transition of payroll operations into the new Global Business Solutions (GBS) HR organization over a two-year timeline.
  • Define and lead the transition plan, including scope, milestones, risks, change management, and communication strategy.
  • Ensure effective knowledge transfer, process documentation, and readiness planning for each region entering the GBS model.
  • Lead the initiative to build a scalable and compliant US payroll capability, targeting insourcing of US payroll within a two-year horizon.
  • Partner with internal teams and external advisors to define system, talent, and process requirements for a best-in-class US payroll function.
  • Define roles and responsibilities, recruit and develop key talent, and establish training and certification programs where applicable.
  • Evaluate current and future technologies (e.g., Workday, time tracking systems, integrations with HRIS/Finance) to support growth and innovation.
  • Build a capability maturity model to assess and guide development of payroll capabilities globally, ensuring continuous improvement post-implementation.
  • Establish and maintain global performance metrics (KPIs) for payroll accuracy, timeliness, compliance, employee satisfaction, and cost efficiency.
  • Launch a continuous improvement program focused on automation, self-service, error reduction, and stakeholder experience.
  • Track evolving regulatory requirements across countries and regions, ensuring proactive updates to policies and procedures.
  • Leverage external benchmarking and internal data to assess performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Champion a culture of operational excellence and data-driven decision making within the payroll function.
