About The Position

The Global Physical Security Systems Specialist at MillerKnoll is responsible for supporting the hardware and software technology of physical security systems across the enterprise. This role involves conducting fieldwork, overseeing contractor labor, troubleshooting service issues, and ensuring the effective operation of security systems to minimize business disruptions. The specialist will also lead small projects, coordinate installations, and maintain knowledge of the latest security technology standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with Electrician's Trade License or Associate's Degree in a computer science-related field.
  • Two years of hands-on experience with physical security systems and related software.
  • Basic DC electrical and networking experience.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., bend, walk, and twist.
  • Ability to effectively use office automation and communication tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Lenel Certification or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Milestone Certification or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Bosch RPS Programming Experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Network design and function.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise contract install/service labor and review work for commissioning.
  • Lead small projects as needed.
  • Advise and assist in the annual security systems budgeting process.
  • Coordinate with external relationships to ensure the viability of all physical security systems.
  • Ensure the installation, upgrade, and servicing of alarm systems, access controls, and video cameras.
  • Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art security equipment standards and technology.
  • Suggest system solutions to specific security concerns identified through customer requests and audits.
  • Perform annual audits for various access control systems.
  • Provide product research, feasibility studies, project planning, and quality assurance.
  • Review physical security system standards, policies, and required upgrades.
  • Plan and recommend physical security systems and service requirements to management.
  • Identify errors, troubleshoot, and determine corrective actions in existing systems.
  • Create scope of work and requests for proposal for installation projects.
  • Interpret CAD/technical blueprints for construction design.
  • Coordinate vendor/installer technicians for project installs and service calls.
  • Administer infrastructure upgrades, implementations, and integrations.
  • Independently program access control, intrusion detection, and camera equipment.
  • Independently install and wire security system components.
  • Test and commission new security equipment installations.
