About The Position

The Global Physical Security Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting physical security systems hardware and software technology throughout the enterprise. This role involves conducting field work, overseeing contractor labor, and troubleshooting service issues according to department guidelines utilizing systems such as Milestone, Lenel, and Bosch. The engineer coordinates contract install/service labor, leads small projects, and assists in the annual security systems budgeting process. They ensure the viability of all physical security systems, both legacy and new, to minimize business disruption due to system failures. The position requires maintaining an in-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art security equipment standards and technology, suggesting system solutions to security concerns, and performing annual audits for access control systems. The engineer also creates scopes of work, interprets CAD/technical blueprints, and coordinates vendor/installer technicians for project installs and service calls.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years' experience hands-on with physical security systems and related software.
  • Basic DC electrical and networking experience.
  • Electrician's Trade License or associate's degree in computer science related field preferred.
  • Lenel Certification or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Milestone Certification or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Bosch RPS Programming Experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Network design and function.
  • Ability to learn and integrate new technologies as business needs change.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrician's Trade License.
  • Associate's degree in a computer science related field.
  • Experience with Milestone and Lenel systems.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates contract install/service labor and reviews work for commissioning.
  • May lead small projects.
  • Advises and assists in annual security systems budgeting process.
  • Coordinates with external relationships to ensure the viability of all physical security systems.
  • Ensures the coordination, installation, upgrade, and servicing of alarm systems, access controls, video cameras, and other physical security equipment.
  • Maintains knowledge of security equipment standards and technology.
  • Suggests system solutions to specific security concerns identified through customer requests and audits.
  • Performs annual audits for various access control systems.
  • Provides product research, feasibility studies, project planning, tracking, and quality assurance.
  • Reviews physical security system standards, policies, and required upgrades.
  • Plans and recommends physical security systems and service requirements.
  • Identifies errors, troubleshoots, and determines corrective action in existing systems.
  • Creates scope of work and requests for proposal for installation projects.
  • Interprets CAD/technical blueprints for construction design.
  • Coordinates vendor/installer technicians for project installs and service calls.
  • Administers infrastructure upgrades, implementations, and integrations.
  • Anticipates technology solutions to solve current and future business needs.
  • Independently programs access control, intrusion detection, and camera equipment.
  • Independently installs and wires security system components.
  • Tests and commissions new security equipment installations.
