About The Position

As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll for over 350 employees across various jurisdictions including the US, Canada, Ireland, and the UK. Your role will involve coordinating payroll setup for new hires, reconciling payroll transactions, and managing off-cycle payroll runs, bonuses, and commissions. You will also ensure tax compliance and year-end processing, monitor automated tax calculations, and manage garnishments and statutory deductions. Additionally, you will handle benefits administration, prepare custom payroll reports, and identify opportunities for process improvements within the payroll operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of payroll processing experience, with at least 2 years managing multi-country payroll.
  • Deep expertise in US payroll regulations; working knowledge of Canadian, Irish, and UK payroll requirements.
  • Experience with cloud-based payroll systems, preferably Rippling.
  • Strong understanding of payroll accounting, tax compliance, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or similar certification preferred.
  • Experience with M&A payroll integration and managing payroll through third-party providers preferred.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States or Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Process accurate, timely payroll for 350+ employees across multiple jurisdictions using Rippling's payroll models.
  • Coordinate payroll setup for new hires, ensuring accurate data entry and timely first paycheck processing.
  • Reconcile payroll transactions and resolve discrepancies.
  • Partner with Rippling support teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize platform functionality.
  • Manage off-cycle payroll runs, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation adjustments.
  • Monitor automated tax calculations and filings across all jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Review and approve year-end tax documents (W-2s, T4s, P60s) before distribution to employees.
  • Manage garnishments and statutory deductions, maintaining compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain audit-ready payroll documentation for annual financial audits.
  • Process benefit enrollment changes, life events, and terminations in Rippling.
  • Reconcile monthly benefit deductions against carrier billing statements.
  • Validate pre-tax and post-tax benefit withholdings across payroll cycles.
  • Administer 401(k) and retirement plan contributions, including employer matches.
  • Prepare custom payroll reports for Finance, HR, and leadership teams.
  • Partner with Finance on month-end close activities and GL reconciliation.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures for payroll operations.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and tax matters.
  • Identify automation opportunities and process improvements within the Rippling platform.
