About The Position

The Global Patient Services Healthcare Coordinator/Interpreter at Cleveland Clinic plays a vital role in enhancing the patient experience for international patients. This position involves coordinating patient services, facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers, and interpreting medical information across language barriers. The role is designed to ensure that patients understand their treatment options and rights while providing support in a culturally sensitive manner. After 90 days, the position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for a mix of on-site and remote work.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Five years of customer service experience.
  • Written and verbal fluency in one or more languages (English and Spanish).
  • Possess a valid state driver's license and automobile insurance coverage.
  • Obtain an Ohio license within 30 days of employment.
  • PC and Microsoft proficiency.
  • Ability to interact in sensitive and diplomatic situations.

  • Bachelor's degree (may substitute for experience requirement).
  • Healthcare experience.
  • Professional interpreting experience.
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality and performing complaint resolution.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient services and respond to a wide variety of patient requests for international patients.
  • Facilitate the coordination of care involving a broad spectrum of professional disciplines and cultural perspectives.
  • Assist international and limited English proficiency (LEP) patients by facilitating the communication process.
  • Interpret dialogue and written material from one language to another, including patient histories and physician instructions.
  • Facilitate communication between providers and patients regarding treatment options and legal rights.
  • Interpret sensitive information to patients or their families, including severe illness diagnoses and treatment ramifications.
  • Schedule follow-up medical appointments and gather patient medical reports and x-rays.
  • Collaborate with caregivers to respond to requests utilizing second language skills.
  • Work an on-call rotation to support patient needs.
