This is a high-visibility, high-impact role critical to the success of our global operations. The Global Operations Controller will have the autonomy to drive financial performance and be a key contributor to strategic decisions that shape the future of a fast-growing and profitable market leader. The Global Operations Controller serves as a critical business partner to the Global Operations and Supply Chain Leader and the plant leadership teams in China, India and Mexico. This role is responsible for providing deep financial control and operational analysis to drive improved cost performance, optimize working capital, and enhance manufacturing efficiency across the global supply chain and production network. He/she provides direct financial support and guidance to the Finance Managers and Plant GMs at the China, India and Mexico facilities, ensuring consistent reporting and control practices across all sites. Global Operations Controller manages the Finance teams at each of the Plants. Flexibility for Global Collaboration: Demonstrate the ability to work outside of standard business hours to accommodate international meetings and time zones including some early mornings, evenings, and weekends as necessary. Maintain responsiveness and professionalism in a global, cross-cultural environment. As part of the global finance team, ability to work with global teams and management including night, early morning, or weekend meetings, as necessary. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 3-5 years as an Operations Controller or equivalent role within a global manufacturing environment.
  • Business Partnership: strong communication, influencing, and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively challenge and support senior non-financial leaders.
  • Analytical Thinking: Highly analytical, with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Prioritize work when given multiple projects.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team/ co-worker environment.
  • Skills in change management both in accepting change and leading change processes.
  • Extensive PC & IT system skills: ERP Systems, Excel, Word, IT architecture and the ability to maintain those skills as technology changes.
  • Work independently with limited supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA/MBA is highly preferred.
  • International Exposure: Demonstrated experience working directly with manufacturing sites in Asia (China) and/or Latin America (Mexico).
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and A/P automation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of travel management software, ERP systems and expense reporting systems (e.g., Concur)
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and drive process improvements in a global environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the plant finance teams fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Set clear goals, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback and coaching.
  • Collaborate with Finance leadership and HR on staffing, training, and succession planning.
  • Oversee and manage all cost accounting activities, including standard cost setting, overhead absorption, variance analysis (material, labor, overhead), and inventory valuation.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process for manufacturing operations, including capital expenditures (CAPEX), operating expenses (OPEX), and cost of goods sold (COGS).
  • Prepare and present timely and insightful operational performance reports, focusing on key metrics such as factory utilization, scrap and rework, manufacturing overhead, and inventory turns.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate accounting policies and establish robust internal controls within the manufacturing and supply chain processes, particularly regarding inventory and fixed assets.
  • Analyze travel spending, identify cost-saving opportunities and assist with month end travel end expense reporting.
  • Act as a strategic financial consultant to the Operations leadership, actively participating in decision-making related to sourcing, capacity planning, make-or-buy decisions, and plant efficiency projects.
  • Evaluate and justify significant CAPEX requests for factory expansion or equipment upgrades, calculating return on investment (ROI) and payback periods.
  • Work closely with Procurement, Accounting, and Finance teams to align policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work outside of standard business hours to accommodate international meetings and time zones including some early mornings, evenings, and weekends as necessary.
