About The Position

Charles City Global Manufacturing Technology (GMT) Location: Charles City, Iowa Internship Summary: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support process engineering projects, such as equipment/lab commissioning, Computation Fluid Dynamic (CFD) assessment, and generating process flow documents (PFDs). The successful candidate is also expected to provide technical support for on-going GMT projects that are related to continuous improvement of new/existing vaccine products produced at Charles City, IA.

Requirements

• Pursuing a degree in Engineering (preferably in chemical or biomedical engineering) with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Teams.
• Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Some level of working knowledge in statistics.
• Ability to work independently and multitask with deadlines.
• At least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the U.S.
• Successfully pass a background check and drug screen.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills.
• Must be able to walk, sit, and stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to reach above shoulder level, bend/stoop, kneel, push/pull, and handle/grip frequently.
• Must be able to work scheduled 40 hours.
• Ability to lift to 50lbs.
• Regular reaching, bending, stooping, and twisting.
• Repetitive motion and substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a capital project to remodel a lab space dedicated to late-stage upstream process development in GMT.
• Assist GMT Process Engineer in drafting PFDs which are source documents containing technical information of new and existing products made in Charles City, IA.
• Assist GMT scientists with running study protocols for assessing raw materials, characterizing upstream and downstream processing, as needed.
• Assist GMT Process Engineering with CFD assessments to improve mixing efficiency of critical cell culture processes.
