The Role We are seeking a Conveyor-Automation Manufacturing Systems Integration Engineer (MSIE) to join our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering General Assembly team. In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of strategic conveyance technologies across both General Assembly and Body Shop, and the planning of automation technologies & integration into General Assembly. You will be responsible for driving innovation in conveyor systems and integrating automation into early-stage manufacturing planning. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure our automation strategies are competitive, scalable, and aligned with future manufacturing needs.   • Lead the development and integration of the General Assembly (GA) & Body Shop (BS) Manufacturing Conveyor systems for new vehicle programs early in the program development cycle.
  • Lead and work on the integration of advanced automation, and manufacturing applications into GA into our planning studies
  • Establish program-specific direction for conveyance and automation aligned with architecture and timing.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure alignment across processing, execution, controls, and installation.
  • Develop and maintain the "Plan for Every Site" (PFES) for assigned North American operations.
  • Optimize BOP/BOE compliance and migration planning for brownfield sites.
  • Balance safety, cost, manpower, floor space, and timing to deliver lean, competitive solutions.
  • Participate in global peer reviews and present strategies to leadership across multiple forums.
  • Interface with Product Engineering to align vehicle design with conveyance capabilities.
  • Lead timing development and critical integration milestones for new programs.
  • Support formal responses to Manufacturing Planning Studies (MPS/MS) with comprehensive, cross-center input.
  • 5+ years of experience in conveyor execution, including process design, build, integration, installation, and launch
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience
  • Strong self-starter, highly motivated, adaptable, and effective in diverse team environments
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to collaborate, motivate, and drive results
  • Thorough knowledge of complex mechanical concepts
  • Broad understanding of General Assembly manufacturing processes
  • AutoCAD proficiency
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Proficiency in automation, including robotics integration and automated assembly design
  • Experience in robotics or automation deployment within the automotive industry
  • TeamCenter experience
  • Knowledge of Vehicle Development Process
  • Manufacturing operations background
  • Advanced engineering degree
  • Familiarity with basic simulation processes
  • Knowledge of GM and industry safety standards
  • Prior experience in conveyor estimation
