About The Position

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a dynamic, results-driven individual to join as a Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME) Intern in our Summer Internship Program. The GME Intern will assist in the mechanical design and development of tools, fixtures, and processes that support early prototype builds conducted in the Kokomo ELB Proto Lab. This hands-on role will contribute directly to the launch readiness of new customer programs by enabling efficient and accurate prototype assembly and testing of emerging inverter designs.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or be a graduate from an accredited college
  • GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or B average, upon initial hire date
  • Manufacturing engineering experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical fixtures and tooling for prototype builds using SolidWorks CAD software
  • Collaborate with process engineering and lab technicians to refine tool concepts and ensure manufacturability
  • Support build events by troubleshooting fixture performance and implementing design improvements
  • Support lab assembly station programming/debug for new assembly fixtures
  • Document design iterations and maintain records for future reference and serial production scaling
  • Participate in product design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
