About the position

As a member of the Import Department at Expeditors, you will ensure the timely and accurate movement of freight and information while providing exceptional customer service. Your role will involve managing the freight process flow, ensuring accurate data entry into our operating system, and tracking and tracing import files as required. You will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery of freight to customers for import shipments and for sending necessary documents to customers or brokers for customs purposes. Additionally, you will handle client and service provider billing, interact with customers to arrange their international shipments, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers such as airlines and trucking companies. Compliance with internal policies and external regulations is crucial, and you will be expected to understand department process flow and seek areas for improved efficiency. Meeting key performance indicators (KPI) and ensuring that all customer standard operating procedures are followed and updated will also be part of your responsibilities. Effective communication, both internally and externally, is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into our operating system
  • Track and trace Import files as required
  • Use Workflows on a daily basis
  • Ensure timely delivery of freight to customers for Import shipments
  • Ensure documents are timely sent to customer or broker for customs purposes
  • Ensure accurate and timely client and Service Providers billing
  • Interact with customers in arranging their international shipments, meeting customer service standards
  • Contribute to maintain strong relationships with suppliers (airlines, trucking companies, and others)
  • Meet compliance at all times to regulations, including internal policies and external government regulations
  • Understand department process flow, constantly looking for areas of improved efficiency
  • Ensure all customers' standard operating procedures are followed and updated
  • Meet KPI standards, as per the company procedures
  • Oversee communications, timely responses to emails and requests (internal and external)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Understanding of air/ocean documentation process a plus
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, and communicate clearly and concisely
  • Pro-active, strong organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Fluent in English
