About the position

The Advisor, Global Human Rights at Starbucks will lead the execution and continuous refinement of the company's enterprise human rights strategy. This role involves driving cross-functional coordination to ensure alignment with internal human rights commitments and compliance with global standards. The advisor will work closely with various business units to integrate human rights initiatives into sustainability efforts and represent these initiatives to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Human Rights Governance by developing and coordinating internal governance to implement consistent human rights standards across Starbucks' global value chain.
  • Support Cross-Functional Teams by partnering with key teams to ensure human rights practices and policies are upheld across the organization.
  • Lead Communications and Reporting by developing materials for business leaders and external disclosures to communicate progress and inform investment decisions.
  • Assess and Mitigate Risks by identifying human rights risks and collaborating with teams to develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Engage with Stakeholders by serving as a liaison with NGOs, community groups, and industry bodies to address human rights concerns.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years leading social or environmental impact programs and projects or leading strategy programs and cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Excellent cross-functional management skills and ability to influence leaders and partners without authority in a large organization.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to translate technical information to leadership.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing environmental, sustainability or ESG software solutions.
  • A passion for human rights, environmental justice, and equity.
